Disclaimer & safety
We introduce people. We don't do the work.
Mahkit Hire helps people find and connect with one another. Users remain responsible for their own hiring and service decisions.
Mahkit Hire is a directory run by OnTap Solutions. Workers listed here are independent. They are not our employees, agents or contractors. Any agreement about a job is between the customer and the worker.
We don't guarantee that a worker is available, that the work will be done well, or that a customer will pay. We don't set or check prices.
What our badges mean, and don't mean
Photo, location and at least one reference were added and looked at by our team.
We saw an ID document that matched the name and photo, on the date it was checked. We did not check criminal records, and it says nothing about honesty or the quality of their work.
Someone on our team spoke to at least one person who agreed to vouch for the worker, and recorded the date. It tells you someone knows them; it doesn't tell you how good their work is.
We saw a certificate from the named school or body (for example ITVET), and checked it with them where we could.
Levels come from jobs confirmed by different customers on Mahkit Hire. "Years of experience" is stated by the worker.
Counted only when a customer who contacted the worker through Mahkit Hire confirms the job was done. Workers can't change this number, and one customer can add at most one per skill a month.
A badge is not a background check, a licence or a guarantee about a person's character or work. Always use your own judgement.
Staying safe: for customers
- Confirm the details before work begins: what will be done, the price, materials and timing, ideally in writing (a WhatsApp message counts).
- Look at their work, references and confirmed jobs. For bigger jobs, ask for someone you can call.
- Be careful letting someone you don't know into your home. Have someone else there if you can, and let a friend know who is coming and when.
- Avoid paying the full amount up front. Never share bank passwords or card PINs.
- Childcare, elder care and other sensitive work: do your own extra checks. Meet first, see their ID, call their references, and start with a short trial while you're nearby.
- Electrical, building and roofing: some work needs a licensed person or a permit. Ask, and check.
- Report anything suspicious with "Report a problem" on the profile. The person is not told who reported them.
Staying safe: for workers
- Confirm the job details before you travel: the address, what's needed, the price and who will be there.
- Be careful with work from people you don't know. Their profile shows how long they've been on Mahkit Hire and their confirmed hires; a request from "Jobs near you" may come from someone without a profile.
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going. Meet in public first if something feels wrong.
- Don't share more than you need to: no ID copies, bank details or your home address until you trust the person.
- You can decline any request. Report suspicious requests or anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
Other people's content
Profiles, descriptions, ratings and linked social media posts are added by users and other platforms. We review some of it but not all of it, and we're not responsible for its accuracy. Posts from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube are shown from those platforms and follow their rules.
No professional advice
Nothing on Mahkit Hire is legal, financial, medical or safety advice. For regulated work, check that the person holds any licence or permit the law requires.
Something went wrong?
Use Report a problem on the profile, or contact us. We look at every report, can hide a profile while we check, and will remove people who break our house rules. For a crime, contact the police first.
